Sanon Training Restaurant
Changing lives and building futures for Myanmar youth
The Sanon Training Restaurant is operated by the MYDI (Myanmar Youth Development Institute). MYDI conducts Sanon as a non-profit social enterprise organization in Nyaung U, Bagan, Myanmar.
Our core strategic aim is to:
"Train up to 30 students at a time, assist them to gain employment and monitor them for a further two years"
The function of the Project via the Sanon Training Restaurant is to train disadvantaged youth in hospitality and English, find them employment and monitor them for a further two years to assist them integrate into the workplace and have a successful career in the hospitality and tourism industries.

OUR VISION To empower a generation of young people to become Myanmar’s industry leaders in hospitality and tourism. SHORT TERM We aim to train up to 30 students per year, find them employment, and monitor them for a further two years. LONG TERM Meeting vocational and industry needs and provide 1,000 students with training. Operate multiple successful venues within a for-profit social enterprise business model. Operate as an almost self sustaining business with additional support from the donors wishing support our work.

By making a regular contribution less than $2.00 USD a day) you can support a student through our training program.
Our training program aims to provide our students with the skills and experience to pursue a career in hospitality.
Your support will help give a disadvantaged young person the opportunity to have a new life and brighter future.
All donations are used to maintain the operation and development of the training restaurant, sustain and support the students, employ expert training staff, operate the training program and monitor and mentor each student in their place of work after graduation for a further two years. The Sanon team would like to thank George Win for taking the time to share his Barista expertise with the Sanon students.
On the April 23rdGeorge Win (Senior Lecturer Hospitality) from Manukau Institute of Technology (Auckland NZ) volunteered his time to deliver a Barista workshop for all the Sanon students.
As part of Sanon’s engagement with the broader community of Nyaung U and Bagan its staff and students show their support of local community groups on a regular basis. Activities around creating awareness of Sanon’s social objectives enrich the lives of both the staff and students whilst serving the community.

U Shain Min Than is returning to Yangon to get married. He was one of our first Chefs and will be greatly missed.
On the 14th of October 2017, Sanon held its inaugural graduation ceremony for students who had completed Sanon’s training program.
The day was a great success. The ceremony was attended by representatives of government, other local officials, family and friends of the students and training staff.
This video provides an introduction to Bagan and the work of the Sanon Training Restaurant as a non-profit social enterprise. It objective to change lives and build a future for disadvantaged Myanmar youth.
