On the 14th of October 2017, Sanon held its inaugural graduation ceremony for students who had completed Sanon’s training program.

The day was a great success. The ceremony was attended by representatives of government, other local officials, family and friends of the students and training staff.

Graduation Class 2017
Inaugural Graduation Class of 2017

In total 15 students graduated. Each student upon receiving their graduation certificate gave a short address to the attendees in Burmese and English.

The Sanon training program included theoretical and practical training in 'Front of House' and Beverage Services and Kitchen, OHS and Food Safety as well as English language lessons and a two-week work experience placement with another hospitality or tourism organization. Students also actively participated in all aspects of the day to day operations of the Sanon Training Restaurant gaining valuable work-ready experience and skills.

Of the students who attended their graduation ceremony, four graduated with a specialization in Front of House (which includes waiting, customer service and bar service) and the balance of students graduated with a specialization in Kitchen (includes food preparation and production, occupational health and safety and food safety).

The completion of our training program by our 15 graduates is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of both the students and our training staff. Since graduating all our students have obtained employment in the hospitality and tourism industry which is our number one goal. As part of Sanon’s continued commitment to the welfare and success of our students, we will monitor and mentor each student in their place of employment for two years.

We hope to provide each student with the best opportunity we can for a successful career in the hospitality and tourism industry.
